Reporting Requirements

Successful Hunters
- Must return the completed hunt report and horns to ADF&G in Douglas or Haines, or to the Skagway Police Dept., within 5 days of kill.
- Specimens Required: Horns for measuring (must be attached to the skull plate)

Unsuccessful Hunters
Must return the completed hunt report to ADF&G, or report online at hunt.alaska.gov, within 15 days of close of season. -

Hunting Conditions
ELIGIBILITY:
-- Prior to hunting, you must complete the online Mountain Goat Identification Quiz (www.quiz.adfg.alaska.gov).
-- A portion of RG024 is an archery-only hunt; to participate, you must have an IBEP or equivalent bowhunter education certificate.
HUNT AREAS:
-- RG023: Unit 1D, that portion of the northwest saddle of Tukgahgo Mt. east of the Chilkat River, south of the Canadian Border and south and west of the Ferebee River and Glacier to Lutak Inlet, excluding that portion of the Takshanuk Range north of the mouth of Goat Hollow east to Assignation Pass.
-- RG024: Unit 1D, that portion between the Ferebee River and Glacier and Taiya River and Inlet, and between the White Pass and Yukon Railroad and the Katzehin River.
-- RG024 (archery-only portion): Unit 1D, that portion between Taiya Inlet and River and the White Pass and Yukon Railroad.
-- RG026: Unit 1D, remainder, excluding that portion of Takshanuk Range extending from the northwest saddle of Tukgahgo Mt. to the city of Haines (RG025 hunt area).

-- RG023: September 15 - November 15
-- RG024: September 15 - November 30
-- RG026: August 1 - December 31
LEGAL ANIMAL:
-- Residents: One goat of either sex; however, if you harvest a nanny you will be prohibited from hunting goat in 1D the following regulatory year. The taking of nannies with kids is prohibited.
-- Nonresidents: One billy.
PERMIT, LICENSE, LOCKING-TAG: Carry your permit and hunting license. Nonresidents: also carry your metal big game locking-tag for goat and the associated Big Game Tag Record.
IF YOU KILL A GOAT:
-- You must immediately validate your permit by cutting out the month and date of harvest. If you are a nonresident, before leaving the kill site you must also affix your metal locking-tag to a part of the animal required to be salvaged.
-- You must submit a completed permit report and submit goat horns for age and sex identification to ADF&G in Douglas or Haines, or to the Skagway Police Dept., within 5 days of kill.
IF YOU DO NOT KILL A GOAT, OR DO NOT HUNT: You must submit a completed permit report to ADF&G, or report online at http://hunt.alaska.gov, within 15 days of the close of season.
IF YOU FAIL TO REPORT AS REQUIRED: You will not be eligible to receive any permits the next regulatory year and you may face additional enforcement action.
