(Bristol Bay) - The Alaska Board of Fisheries (BOF) adopted a new sport fishing regulation for the Togiak River drainage at the Lower Cook Inlet meeting in November 2023. The regulatory change is summarized below as a service to anglers, and not a complete digest of all sport fishing regulations. The new regulation identified below will take effect with the release of the 2024 Southwest Alaska Sport Fishing Regulations Summary booklet when it is issued in spring of 2024.
New for 2024
In the Togiak River Drainage, bait may be used on a single-hook, artificial lure from July 16 to April 30. Bait may not be used for the remainder of the year to protect returning king salmon. The king salmon bag and possession limit did not change and king salmon over 20 inches in length or longer must be released immediately. This change will allow anglers to use bait (e.g. salmon eggs or shrimp) from July 16 to April 30, to target salmon other than king salmon.
