Sport Fishing for King Salmon Opens Near Hidden Falls

Beginning Saturday, June 1 through Friday, June 14, 2024, the king salmon regulations in the vicinity of Hidden Falls Hatchery are as follows:

  • In the waters of Chatham Strait within approximately 1.0 nmi of the Baranof Island shoreline south of the latitude of South Point at 57°16.28′ N. lat., north of 57°06.76′ N. lat., and west of a line from a point offshore at 57°16.28′ N. lat., 134°49.94′ W. long. to a point offshore at 57°06.76′ N. lat., 134°45.37′ W. long. (see map- crosshatched area-)

    • The resident bag and possession limit is two king salmon, 28 inches or greater in length;

    • The nonresident bag and possession limit is one king salmon, 28 inches or greater in length;

    • The nonresident annual harvest limit is three king salmon, 28 inches or greater in length.

  • In the remaining waters of Kasnyku Bay identified by the black shaded area (see map);

    • Closed to the retention of salmon.

This action will allow opportunity for anglers to retain king salmon in the area and time when Alaska hatchery-produced king salmon are expected to be returning to Hidden Falls Hatchery. After June 14 the Southeast Alaska regional king salmon bag, possession, and annual limits will continue to apply in this area.
