(Palmer) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) is rescinding Emergency Order 2-KS-2-19-24 that expanded the area open to sport fishing at the Eklutna Tailrace stocked fishery. Coho salmon stocks throughout northern Cook Inlet are experiencing a period of low productivity and salmon runs to these rivers are low and below management objectives. Given anticipated poor return status, it is warranted to rescind the previously expanded fishery to prevent additional harvest of wild coho salmon. Eklutna Tailrace is open in all waters within a ½ mile radius of its confluence with the Knik River, and to an ADF&G marker located 2 miles downstream of the confluence.
