Access
Although much of the Yukon River flows through areas where there are few or no inhabitants, there are several places the public can access it by road. Located near the Alaskan-Canadian border, Eagle Alaska sits on the banks of the Yukon and can be reached via the Taylor Highway. Circle, Alaska can be reached on the Steese Highway. Located on the Dalton Highway the E.L. Patton Yukon River Bridge is the eastern most access point to the river and is also a convenient view point for the trans-Alaska pipeline. All other access to the Yukon River must be done either by boat or plane. Flights are available to some villages along the river and usually must be scheduled through small air carriers.
