Furs of Alaska's Mammals
Animal furs are a great tool for teaching about the diversity of Alaska's wildlife. This guide provides background information on fur and specific species information for educators, as well as hands on activities for students. This guide accompanies furs available from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for loan to educators. This guide will help educators introduce students to hair structure and function, mammal identification, and the diversity of animal adaptations in Alaska. The lessons are written for elementary through high school level students.
