We are pleased to report that Albert Simon II of Hooper Bay, Alaska, tagged one ringed seal near Hooper Bay on 14 May 2015. Albert is a local seal hunter. Congratulations and thanks to Albert!
Over the last 14 days we have received locations from 5 ringed (solid lines) and 3 bearded (dashed lines) seals. Seals in Kotzebue Sound have remained in the same, generally small areas while seals in Norton Sound have started to move within the Sound. Sea ice data are courtesy of the NASA Rapid Response Network, dated 17 May (https://earthdata.nasa.gov/). Thin clouds still remain in the area.
