Ice Seal Tracking Maps Archive

During the last fourteen days we have received transmissions from 4 ringed and 1 bearded seal. One ringed seal has moved north of Barrow while the rest of the seals are in the Chukchi Sea. An updated map showing recent movements is attached. The MODIS sea ice image was taken on 10 July 2014 and is courtesy of the NASA Rapid Response Network (http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov). Seals were tagged in Kotzebue Sound on 18 and 19 June in collaboration with the Native Village of Kotzebue. Funding for tagging has been provided by BOEM.
