During the last 14 days we have received locations for 2 bearded, 1 ringed, and 2 spotted seals. All ringed and bearded seals are in areas with heavy sea ice (>80% concentration) and within 15 miles (24 km) of land in the Chukchi Sea. The spotted seals are located in open water or in the marginal ice zone in the Bering Sea. Sea ice data are courtesy of the U.S. National Ice Center, dated March 19 (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/daily_products.html).
