During the last 10 days we have received locations for 2 bearded, 1 ringed, and 2 spotted seals. All bearded and ringed seals are still generally near land and in areas with sea ice in the Chukchi Sea. Both spotted seals are in the Bering Sea. Spotted seal SS17-02-M (blue circle) has moved south of St. Lawrence Island, into the open water of the central Bering Sea, south of St. Matthew Island. Spotted seal SS17-06-F (green circle) is located between Nunivak Island and the Alaskan coast. Sea ice data are courtesy of the NASA Rapid Response Network, dated 8 April (https://earthdata.nasa.gov/earth-observation-data/near-real-time/rapid-response).
