During the last fourteen days we have received locations for 1 ringed seal (solid red line) and 1 bearded seal (dashed blue line). Last week, the ringed seal, RS14-01-M, moved north of Shishmaref, traveling along the edge of the fast and pack ice, near the mouth of Kotzebue Sound. This ringed seal is currently at the mouth of the Sound. The bearded seal, BS15-07-M, is still in Norton Sound, east of Nome. An updated map showing recent movements is attached. Sea ice data are courtesy of the NASA Rapid Response Network, dated 2 May (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/).
