During the last fourteen days we have received locations for 2 bearded seals. Bearded seal BS15-07-M (blue line) has moved north, with the receding sea ice, into the eastern Chukchi Sea and is now west of Point Lay, Alaska. The second bearded seal, BS14-04-M (green line), is still located in eastern Kotzebue Sound, in Eschscholtz Bay. This seal has been making localized movements and hauling out near the mouth of the Buckland River. Sea ice data are courtesy of the NASA Rapid Response Network, dated 25 June (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/).
