Requested Tracking Map
During the last 10 days we have received locations for 5 bearded, 2 ringed, and 7 spotted seals. Nine of the 14 seals are in the Bering Sea or Bering Strait region. Ringed seal RS17-01-M (Red arrow) has moved roughly 500 miles (835 km) south, along the Alaskan coastline, from south of Utqiaġvik, around the Lisburne Peninsula, to the mouth of Kotzebue Sound. Also during this period two bearded seals (BS17-03-M and BS17-04-F) have begun restricting their movements to a localized area of smaller than roughly 8x8 miles (13x13 km). Sea ice data are courtesy of the U.S. National Ice Center, dated 13 November (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/daily_products.html).
