Anvik River
Overview
Anvik Sonar Site
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game established the Anvik River sonar project as a tool to monitor the escapement of summer chum salmon into the Anvik River drainage. The Anvik River is a tributary of the Yukon River and believed to be the largest producer of summer chum salmon in the Yukon River drainage. Anvik River sonar site estimates provide fisheries managers with an important tool to determine if summer chum salmon abundance will meet downstream harvest and upstream escapement needs.
