U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) employs both civilian and military engineers, scientists, and other specialists that work on a variety of engineering projects and environmental matters. The Alaska District of the COE (http://www.poa.usace.army.mil/hm/default.htm) has three major programs: environmental/cleanup restoration activities; civil works development; and military construction. They also have significant program functions under the Clean Water Act and navigation regulation programs (i.e., wetlands fill and navigation permits). The COE and ADF&G typically both have regulatory duties associated with an array of resource development projects and work closely together in the review and evaluation of these proposed projects.
