Location
Southern Kodiak Island, includes the Dog Salmon River from the upper falls (south of Frazer Lake) to Olga Bay, East Fork valley, the Northwestern side of Greyback Mountain, and the west side of the Moser Peninsula. See area map (Image file 120 kB).
Topography and Habitat
Numerous cottonwood trees and grass flats occupy the lower river bottom. Dense alder thickets on steep hillsides up to alpine areas that start at 1500'. The upper river valley is mostly tundra vegetation and grassland with interspersed willow patches. There are also a few shallow ponds.
Land Ownership
Most of lands along the Dog Salmon River within the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, with some Akhiok-Kaguyak Inc. lands and private lands on the Moser Peninsula.
