Area Description

Location
Southern Kodiak Island, including all of the area south of Olga Bay and west of Moser Bay, including South Olga Lakes and Sukhoi Lagoon. See area map (Image file 60 kB).
Topography and Habitat
Interspersed alder and willow thickets along the northern portion of the area. The rest is primarily tundra and grassland vegetation with rolling hills and flats. Numerous lakes and small ponds with sandy beaches and bays in the south. The village of Akhiok (population 86) is in this hunt area and has regularly scheduled mail flights.
Land Ownership
Lands are primarily owned by Akhiok-Kaguyak Inc. with some Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge lands and private lands.
