Area Description

Location
Western Kodiak Island, including west half of Spiridon Peninsula, including Spiridon Lake, Little River Lake, and most of Little River. See area map (Image file 85 kB).
Topography and Habitat
Moderately steep hills rising from sea level to 2615'. Dense alder thickets interspersed with grass/salmonberry meadows cover the hillsides. Grass and cottonwoods flats along the lower elevations and inland valleys. Alpine areas start at 1500'.
Land Ownership
Primarily Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge lands with some private lands along the coast.
Public Use Cabins
A U.S Fish And Wildlife cabin is located on the northern shore of Little River Lake.
