Area Description

Location
Southwestern Kodiak Island, including the northern portion of Olga Bay, Red and Akulura Lakes, and the lower portion of the Ayakulik River. See area map (Image file 66 kB).
Topography and Habitat
Primarily tundra and grassland vegetation interspersed with alder and willow thickets. This includes rolling hills and bench lands intersected by numerous drainages, small ponds, lakes, and extensive areas of hummock terrain.
Land Ownership
Lands are primarily Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge lands with some Ayakulik Inc. land located at the mouth of the Ayakulik River.
